Man dies in Forest Hills car collision

A 68-year-old motorist is dead following a collision in Forest Hills.

According to police, at 6:35 p.m. Saturday officers reported to the scene of a car collision at the intersection of Queens Boulevard and 71st Avenue. Police said that when they arrived, they found a 38-year old woman pinned inside a gray Mercedes Benz and a 68-year-old man unconscious and unresponsive inside a gray Jeep.

Police said they were able to pull the woman out of her car and first responders took the 68-year-old man to North Shore Forest Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 38-year old woman was traveling westbound on Queens Boulevard and stopped at a red light at 71st. Avenue when the driver of the gray Jeep struck her Mercedes Benz from behind, police said. The NYPD was withholding the identity of the deceased until his family was notified.

The NYPD Collision Investigation Squad was investigating the incident.
