Serial wallet thief targeting women struck again in downtown Flushing: cops

Cops are still looking for the suspect believed to have swiped wallets and phones from nine different women in downtown Flushing over the course of three months.

Between Oct. 29, 2017 and Jan. 16, an unidentified man removed property from nine individuals in the neighborhood, according to police. The majority of the incidents took place on Main Street in the vicinity of 40th Road, an NYPD spokesperson noted. Police provided information about the initial eight incidents in December.

In the most recent incident on Jan. 16, authorities said, a female victim was walking up the stairs at 41-60 Main St. at around 5:20 p.m. when she felt the perpetrator touch her purse. She then discovered the suspect removed her iPhone 6, as well as four credit cards and one debit card. The suspect later made an unauthorized transaction on the victim’s debit card for $122.

All victims in the nine reported incidents were Asian females who had their wallets and/or phones removed, police said. The incidents were reported to the 109th Precinct.

Cops described the person of interest as a black man in his 40s. Surveillance video of the suspect can be seen below.
