A Flushing man who allegedly threatened to kill his wife and then himself during an argument last Friday had a small arsenal of deadly weapons in his home, police said.

Officers from the 109th Precinct responded to the reported dispute at an apartment on Roosevelt Avenue near Union Street at 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 16.

Upon arriving at the location, law enforcement sources said, a 52-year-old woman at the home told police that she got into an argument with her husband, 57-year-old Paul J. Gauthier. Police further learned that Gauthier had been served an order of protection barring him from contacting his wife.

According to authorities, the wife then told police that Gauthier allegedly threatened to kill both her and himself, and had a number of deadly weapons in his possession.

Officers searched the home and found 14 knives, a crossbow, a sword, an axe, a switchblade, five air rifles and various cutting instruments, police noted.

Gauthier was subsequently arrested on 15 counts of criminal possession of a weapon as well as additional charges of criminal contempt and harassment.

Police sources said he has two prior arrests — one for an unlawful imprisonment charge in June 2004, and the other for criminal mischief in April 2003. Both of those incidents occurred in the confines of the Bronx’s 49th Precinct.

According to court records, Gauthier was ordered held on $5,000 bail at his Feb. 17 arraignment. He is due back in court on Feb. 27.

Inspector Judith Harrison, commander of the 109th Precinct, congratulated the officers on the precinct’s Twitter page for last Friday’s arrest.
