Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who is connected to a series of burglaries in Whitestone and Flushing.

According to police, at noon on Feb. 9, an unknown individual (or individuals) gained access to a home in the vicinity of 166th Street and 16th Road by forcing open a window in the rear of the home. Once inside, the suspect removed jewelry and approximately $500 in cash.

Later that same day at 11:30 p.m., the suspect(s) forced the window open at a different residence in the vicinity of 166th Street and 16th Road. They ransacked the home, but no property was removed.

One week later on Feb. 16, the suspect(s) forced the window open at a home in the vicinity 160th Street and 23rd Avenue at 4:42 p.m. Once inside, the suspect removed jewelry and approximately $5,000 in cash.

At 4:42 p.m. on Feb. 18, the burglars struck again at a home in the vicinity of 166th Street and Bayside Lane. After gaining access to the home by forcing open a open a window on the side of the house, the perpetrators stole jewelry.

On March 8 at 9:30 a.m., the suspect forced open a basement window at a residence in the vicinity of 160th Street and 21st Road and took jewelry from the home. The next week on March 17, the same suspect gained access to another home in the vicinity of 160th Street and 21st Road through the basement window and stole jewelry.

Police described the suspect as a light-skinned man who was last seen wearing a dark colored baseball cap, a gray hooded sweater, black sweatpants, black sneakers and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
