A 7-year-old girl from Astoria has died of injuries days after an apparently prank she played on her mother at home went terribly wrong, according to published reports.
Precise Tucker had tied a bathrobe belt around her neck in an apparent joke on her mom while at home at their 19th Street apartment at 8:20 p.m. on March 21, the New York Daily News reported.
Moments later, it was reported, Tucker began choking while eating chips. The New York Post reported that the girl’s 15-year-old brother scooped chips out of her mouth to try and clear her airways; their mother, a Con Edison worker, began administering CPR.
Officers from the 114th Precinct and EMS units rushed to the home after receiving a 911 call and found the girl unconscious and unresponsive.
Paramedics transported the girl to Elmhurst Hospital, and she was later transferred to Long Island Jewish Cohen’s Children’s Hospital. However, Tucker never regained consciousness, was taken off life support and died on Friday, March 23.
Her body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
An investigation is ongoing.
