Police are searching for a Middle Village man who recently punched another man in the face and stole his iPhone in broad daylight.

The incident took place at approximately 5:40 p.m. on April 13 in front of a residence on 67th Road, when the suspect engaged in a verbal dispute with the 34-year-old victim, authorities said.

The suspect then punched the victim in the face with a closed fist, picked up the victim’s iPhone and fled the scene in a gold Hyundai Elantra, police said.

According to sources familiar with the investigation, the victim knows the suspect and was able to identify him as Ladislav Ruc, 36, of Middle Village.

Ruc is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 160 pounds with black hair. His last known address was on 79th Place, police said.
