The two men pictured above are wanted for burglary in the 104th Precinct.

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the thieves responsible for breaking into two Maspeth homes and getting away with a safe containing thousands in cash and jewelry.

The first break-in occurred on May 25 at approximately 9:05 p.m. when a male suspect forced his way through the front door of a home on 52nd Avenue near 73rd Street, police said. Once inside, the suspect removed a safe from the residence that contained approximately $40,000 worth of jewelry and $20,000 in cash, according to law enforcement sources.

Police obtained surveillance video from the residence that shows the suspect hopping a short fence to enter the property, then later exiting the home through the door while hoisting the safe over his shoulder. The video also shows a black sedan driven by a second suspect pull up to the location, and the first suspect is seen carrying the safe toward the vehicle.

Sources familiar with the investigation said the suspect fled the scene in the black sedan.

The second incident took place on May 31 at approximately 10:45 a.m., police said, when two suspects entered a home on 69th Street near 51st Avenue by forcing open the back door. The crooks then began to ransack the second floor of the residence, but were caught in the act by a 59-year-old female resident.

The suspects, whom police described as males with medium complexions, then fled the location empty-handed on 69th Street heading north on foot, authorities said.

Surveillance photos obtained by police from the second location show both of the suspects.

Officers from the 104th Precinct are investigating the two crimes as a burglary pattern.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
