The first-ever Father's Day Classic Car Show will take place on June 17 on Shore Boulevard.

The Astoria Park Alliance is hosting the first-ever Father’s Day Classic Car Show on Sunday, June 17. Organizers of this new event invite attendees to walk down Shore Boulevard, also known as “The Strip,”  to check out dozens of classic cars from around the region.

During the car show, Shore Boulevard will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The location for the event was chosen due to the long history with car and motorcycle enthusiasts bringing their vehicles to “The Strip.” Interested car owners will have the opportunity to have their cars professionally judged in several categories, and winners will receive trophies on stage at the end of the event. Guests will also get the chance to ask owners questions about their cars on display.

In addition to viewing cars, attendees will also be able to enjoy food and craft vendors, live music and a number of other family activities. Award winning singer-songwriter D.B. Rielly is slated to give a special performance with his band. They will perform two sets of their wide-ranging collection of American roots music, including zydeco, blues and country.

The featured vendors at Sunday’s event include The Breakfast Shack, Bench Flour Bakers, Astor Apiaries and HellGate Farm, who will offer refreshments as well as last-minute Father’s Day gifts.

The event is free to attend, but there is a $15 fee per vehicle for those who wish to submit their cars for judging. Car owners who want to enter their vehicles in the show should contact the Astoria Park Alliance by email at getinvolved@astoriaparkalliance.org for more details. Participating classic cars will enter the site for registration prior to the event from the corner of Ditmars Boulevard and Shore Boulevard.

The car show is made possible by the Old Astoria Neighborhood Association. All who wish to attend are encouraged to RSVP on Facebook and Eventbrite. For more information, contact APA board member Miriam Fodera at miriam.dalaei@gmail.com or call 713-818-9622.
