A 14-year-old Rego Park girl who was missing for two days was found safe last week and is now home with her parents, police said.
Further details were not disclosed by authorities.
Jocelyn Zacarias was last seen July 5 walking by Rego Market Place on Penelope Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park wearing a red baseball cap and red T-shirt, police said. She had left her residence at Dieterle Crescent near 64th Road at 7:15 a.m.
Zacarias’ parents had reported their daughter missing to the 112th precinct in Forest Hills and said she had never been reported missing before.
Jocelyn’s mother, Mickey Blume-Zacarias, had posted fliers in the community while conducting a search as well in online updates on Facebook to find her daughter, asking for everyone’s prayers and support.
A post from July 6 read: “We are approaching night 2 without our girl home. I’m praying that God is wrapping his safe loving arms around her until she can come home.”
On July 7, Blume-Zacarias posted that Jocelyn had been found.
A prayer service was held Sunday at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church at 85 Greenway South in Forest Hills for Jocelyn’s safe return home.
“Thank you all!!! Because of prayer, social media and having the fliers put up, We have our girl home safe tonight. Because of you!!!” Blume-Zacarias said on Facebook. “Jocelyn wants to go to say thank you to everyone and she feels loved and appreciative. We will not answer any questions, but we will celebrate life, love and community. Thank you again!!!”
