If you’re a cable customer living in Queens and having problems with your service, you now have another outlet to vent your frustration and demand improvements.

Councilman Rafael Espinal has officially launched fixmycablenow.com. The website, which was paid for and run through his campaign organization, Espinal for NYC, is devoted to receiving feedback from cable customers in the city, particularly those who receive service from Spectrum.

“After reviewing the findings of state regulators, and especially after the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) extraordinary move to kick Spectrum out of New York entirely, it is critical that we make an effort to understand how New York City customers are being negatively impacted by this greedy and irresponsible corporation,” said the Brooklyn-based Espinal, who also serves as the Chairman of the Committee on Consumer Affairs and Business. “We’ve been hearing for months now about Spectrum’s unscrupulous practices towards its customers, regulators and employees, and I’m proud to take the lead on investigating its impacts here in New York City.”

The launch of the website comes in the wake of the PSC’s move to expel Spectrum from New York state for failing to fulfill its responsibilities to customers in New York. Prior to this decision, the PSC had hit Spectrum with $2 million in fines.

New York state also filed a lawsuit against Spectrum, charging that the company had falsely advertised its higher Internet speeds to customers.

“We need a full accounting of what is happening so we can determine whether or not this kind of company should have the opportunity to do business here,” Espinal said.

“Local 3 and its entire membership applaud Councilman Espinal for his leadership in launching this website and standing with all the members of the public who have been wronged by Spectrum’s reckless conduct,” said Chris Erickson, business manager of IBEW Local 3. “Councilman Espinal understands how poorly Spectrum has treated its employees in New York, and we support his effort to investigate the corporation’s neglect of its customers.”
