Man found dead in water near College Point Yacht Club

COLLEGE POINT — A man presumed to be in his 40s was found dead floating in the water near the College Point Yacht Club last week, according to the NYPD.

Police officers from the 109th Precinct and the NYPD Harbor Unit responded to a 911 call at 9:31 a.m. on Aug. 9, to the College Point Yacht Club, located in the area of Powells Cove Boulevard and 126th Street, the NYPD said.

Emergency responders brought the unidentified man to shore, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the NYPD said.

A medical examiner will determine the cause of death and the investigation is ongoing, the NYPD said.

The next following day, another grisly discovery was made by authorities of an unidentified female floating in the Flushing River located adjacent to the intersection of College Point Boulevard and 34th Avenue.

Police from the 109th precinct responded to a 911 call last Friday at around 10:05 a.m. Upon arrival, the NYPD Harbor Unit discovered an unidentified woman, unknown age, unconscious and unresponsive floating in the water, the NYPD said.

The NYPD Harbor Unit removed the woman from the water and EMS pronounced her dead at the scene, the NYPD said.

The New York City medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The investigation was ongoing, the NYPD said.
