The Cozy Corner Restaurant & Bar on 70th Avenue and 60th Street in Ridgewood.

A decades-old corner bar located in the Central Ridgewood Historic District recently changed ownership for a huge price.

The Cozy Corner on 70th Avenue and 60th Street was sold on Aug. 15 for $2,075,000, according to Daniel Barcelowsky of Evergreen Realty & Investments, who brokered the deal. While the seller declined to comment on the deal at this time, Barcelowsky said the longtime owner of the bar was simply ready to retire.

The entire three-story, 4,800-square-foot building, including two three-bedroom apartments above the bar, were included in the sale.

One of the earliest known establishments in the building was A. Moeschle’s Cafe, which served Bushwick-based Rheingold beer dating back to approximately 1912. The ground-floor commercial space has played host to different reincarnations of delis, restaurants and bars ever since.

Barcelowsky added that the buyer, Zef Gjini, plans to continue operating the bar with only a few minor cosmetic changes.

QNS is awaiting more details about the future plans for the bar from Gjini.
