A woman has died after being struck by a car while crossing Woodhaven Boulevard on Thursday morning.

According to law enforcement sources, the incident took place at approximately 5:50 a.m on Sept. 20 as the victim, an unidentified woman in her 60s, walked westbound on Jamaica Avenue at Woodhaven Boulevard.

The woman walked in the crosswalk against the light when a 2014 Lexus SUV traveling southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard struck her, police said.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct responded to the scene where the victim sustained severe injuries. EMS transported her to Jamaica Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Sources familiar with the investigation said the driver, a 62-year-old man, remained with his vehicle at the scene of the collision. No arrests have been made at this time but the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Police shut down Woodhaven Boulevard at Jamaica Avenue for a time on Thursday morning while responding to and investigating the deadly incident.
