On Oct. 4, the Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park will hold its second fundraising party, “Evening Under the Sphere.” The gala, which is tagged as “Your Park, Your World,” will take place at the Unisphere from 6 to 9 p.m.

“Evening Under the Sphere” will celebrate the park’s diversity with dining and music. Guests will enjoy made-to-order international food from a dozen popular Queens Night Market vendors.

NYC Parks Commissioner Silver will deliver formal remarks at 7 p.m.

“From free public programming such as fitness classes taught by veterans, to new equipment that will help clean the park more efficiently, The Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park is successfully bringing extra services and new amenities to Queens’ flagship park,” said Mitchell J. Silver, FAICP, Alliance Chair and NYC Parks Commissioner.  “Flushing Meadows Corona Park makes more than 9 million New Yorkers and visitors smile each year, and “Evening Under the Sphere” is a great way to celebrate this iconic park.”

Confirmed vendors for the event include Framhouse’s Butter Chicken and Naan;  Lapulapu’s Chicken Adobo; Tania’s Kitchen’s Ribs and Haitian Black Rice; Twisted Potato’s Fried Potato Crisp Skewers; Verity Wine Partners’ assorted wines; Big Alice Brewing’s assorted beers.

The gala is sponsored by the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Con Edison, Delta Airlines, T-Mobile, The Bowery Presents, The Port Authority of NY & NJ, and Verizon.

For a half-century, Flushing Meadows Corona Park has helped make Queens our greenest borough,” said Carol Conslato, Alliance Board Member and Con Edison’s Director of Queens Corporate Affairs.  “Parks provide neighborhoods with a solid foundation on which to raise families and enrich our lives, and Con Edison is happy to be a supporter of the Alliance.”

The gala will be moved indoors if it rains. Individual tickets are available for $50 and can be purchased at www.allianceforfmcp.org/gala.
