Police continue to investigate the cause of a deadly motorcycle collision earlier this week that claimed the life of a Springfield Gardens man.

Johnathan Giles, 50, of 182nd Street died in the crash that occurred at around 1:26 a.m. on Oct. 14 at the corner of 197th Street and 119th Road in St. Albans.

Officers from the 113th Precinct responding to a 911 call about the incident found Giles lying on the road with trauma to his body, head and neck.

A preliminary investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad found that Giles was speeding on his 1995 Kawasaki motorcycle traveling southbound on 197th Street when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle, which landed on its left side.

After hitting the pavement, the motorcycle skidded across the road and struck a parked, unoccupied 2006 Dodge Caravan. Police said Giles was then ejected from the vehicle into the middle of the roadway.
