Cops looking for driver who struck a pedestrian in a deadly hit-and-run in Maspeth

Police are looking for a driver who fatally struck a woman that was crossing a Maspeth street.

According to authorities, at 1:21 a.m. on Nov. 2, officers from the 108th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian struck on 56th Road east of 48th Street. Upon their arrival, police found 39-year-old Tamika Johnson lying in the road, unconscious and unresponsive, with trauma throughout her body.

EMS responded and rushed Johnson to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she ultimately died of her injuries on Nov. 4.

An investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad found that Johnson was crossing 56th Road diagonally from when she was struck by an unknown black SUV that was traveling eastbound on 56th Road. The SUV fled the scene after striking Johnson.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
