Woman steals backpack in Flushing and racks up a huge tab at a Home Depot in Woodside: cops

Police are looking for a crook who stole a woman’s backpack in Flushing and later used one of the victim’s credit cards at a Woodside store.

According to police, at 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 24, a 52-year-old woman was at a Speedway gas station, located at 56-01 Main St., when she noticed that she didn’t have her backpack anymore. Among the items inside the backpack were $2,300 in cash and two credit cards.

An ongoing investigation found that at 10:10 p.m. on Oct. 24, the thief used one of the victim’s credit cards to purchase approximately $1,700 worth of merchandise from a Home Depot located at 55-10 Northern Blvd. The suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored, four-door sedan with two other unidentified individuals.

Cops described the thief as a light-skinned female with black hair in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, a light-colored shirt and dark-colored pants, and she carried a light-colored shoulder purse.
