Man swipes cellphone from straphanger while riding the J train in Richmond Hill: cops

Cops are looking for a man who stole a woman’s cellphone while riding the subway in Richmond Hill.

According to police, at 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 12, a 25-year-old woman was riding on a southbound J train. When the train stopped at the 121st Street station, an unknown man swiped her iPhone X out of her hand and fled the train.

The incident was reported to the 102nd Precinct and the NYPD Transit Bureau. The victim was not injured.

Police described the suspected thief as a black man standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 165 pounds. He’s seen in this security camera footage that the NYPD released on Nov. 29.
