A Jamaica man has been indicted on charges that he allegedly pimped out a 25-year-old woman over the course of a month, prosecutors announced on Monday.

Dennis Hodges, 40, faces charges first-degree rape, sex trafficking, first- and second-degree robbery and second-degree assault. Bail was set at a $500,000 bond or $300,000 cash and Hodges was ordered to return to court on Jan. 15.

If convicted, Hodges faces up to 25 years in prison, Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said.

According to the charges, the victim left her mother’s home met in November 2018 and encountered Hodges, who offered her a place to live. The victim then began to engage in prostitution and Hodges allegedly forced her to turn over all the money she made on sex dates with strangers to him.

On Dec. 1,  Hodges allegedly struck the victim several times while searching for cash and ultimately took $40 from her.

“The defendant in this case is accused of profiting from prostitution by pimping out a young woman,” Brown said in a statement. “I want to emphasize that prostitution is not a victimless crime and that sex trafficking is an incessant act of brutality. This young woman was allegedly raped, abused and had moneystolen from her. The defendant is now facing a lengthy term of incarceration.”
