Police have arrested a man that they say raped a woman in South Ozone Park last month.

George Persaud, 24, allegedly approached a 40-year-old woman at 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 29 and displayed a fake firearm. Charges say that Persaud told the victim, “Don’t do anything stupid or I’ll kill you”, and then forced the victim to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her.

Persaud then allegedly took the victim to a nearby gas station where he continued the sexual assault and over the course of several hours repeatedly sexually abused and raped her. At one point, Persaud allegedly appeared to let the victim leave but he followed her to her vehicle, forced her into the back seat and continued to brutalize her.

Following the assaults, Persaud then allegedly took the victim’s car keys and drove the two of them to an alleyway on 100th Street. When he left  the car to relieve himself, the victim remembered she had a spare key in her handbag, retrieved it and fled the scene.

EMS took the victim to a local hospital for evaluation. Authorities familiar with the investigation stated that there was no apparent connection between Persaud and the victim prior to the incident.

Fingerprints from inside the victim’s car at interior rear driver’s side window matched Persaud.

Following an ongoing investigation, detectives arrested Persaud on Jan. 9. He was arraigned before the Queens Criminal Court and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree criminal sexual act, second-degree kidnapping and first-degree sexual abuse.

If convicted, Persaud faces up to 25 years in prison.
