Man chokes and robs Elmhurst woman after entering her unlocked apartment, police say

Police are looking for a man who entered an apartment in Elmhurst and stole cash from the tenant after choking her.

The suspect entered a residential building between Elmhurst and Britton avenues on May 16 at about 3:58 p.m. He then walked into an unlocked apartment to find a 25-year-old woman inside, officials said. The suspect allegedly placed his hands around her neck and mouth and stole an undetermined amount of money before fleeing out the front door.

Police describe the suspect as a 32-year-old Asian male, standing about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, white sneakers and a gray shirt.
