“Pray for the New York Crusade — Just Days Away.”
This is the message on the official Billy Graham website as he and thousands of others prepare for what may prove to be his final journey of faith to New York.
Appearing from June 24 through 26 in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, Graham has a plethora of special guests lined up as he attempts to spread the word of God to an ever-burgeoning Evangelical audience.
“We’re very excited,” said Jim Owens, Associate Pastor of the New Life Fellowship on Queens Boulevard. “I think he will be very well received.”
In anticipation of Graham’s visit, Flushing Meadows- Corona Park has been transformed into a giant stadium filled with 70,000 chairs and an overflow area for more than 50,000 people. Projection screens will be located to allow those on the periphery to see and hear without obstruction.
According to Graham, his mission and “prayer is that through this Crusade every facet of your community will be transformed as the Gospel is proclaimed.”
The 86-year-old preacher hosted his first New York Crusade in 1957 and has since traveled to more than 180 countries, enlightening more than 200 million people.
“It’s exciting to be in a place where people are going to be affected by the words and the experience that will happen at this conference,” said Owens, who will be attending with his four children. “We’re privileged to have him — it’s a historic event.”
