State Senator Joseph Addabbo volunteered for dinner at Masbia, the only Kosher soup kitchen in the borough.
Masbia, on Queens Boulevard, which opened in March with the help of Henry Orenstein via the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty, is already serving over 120 clients a day, five days a week. Clients at the Masbia on Queens Blvd are largely local seniors and families with children who come from afar to eat at the soup kitchen.
Addabbo wore a Masbia uniform as he ladled soup and served the three-course meal to the soup kitchen clients.
Every Thursday clients are given weekend packages of cooked and raw food to take home and the Senator observed and helped with the distribution.
