Dentist Felt Up Patient In Chair

Rego Park Doc Cuffed For Fondling

A 62-year-old dentist who has an office in Rego Park has been charged with sexually abusing a female patient of his between Sept. 17, 2012 and Apr. 9.

Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown identified the defendant as Bedros Yavru-Sakuk, 62, of River Road in Edgewater, NJ. Yavru-Sakuk was arraigned Monday night, Apr. 22, in Queens Criminal Court on charges of third-degree sexual abuse.

He was released on his own recognizance and ordered to return to court on June 20. If convicted, Yavru-Sakuk faces up to three months in jail.

“The charges in this case are disturbing, Brown said. “The defendant is accused of taking advantage of his position of power and abusing his patient while he was supposed to be treating her. This is a serious breach of trust and cannot go unpunished.”

According to the criminal charges, Yavru-Sakuk sexually abused one of his female patients in his dentist’s office located at 92-29 Queens Blvd. between September 2012 and April 2013 by inappropriately rubbing her genitals over her clothing with his elbow repeatedly, without her consent.

Assistant District Attorney Marjory

D. Fisher, chief of the District Attorney’s Special Victims Bureau, is prosecuting the case under the supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for Major Crimes Charles A. Testagrossa and Deputy Executive Assistant District Attorney for Major Crimes Daniel A. Saunders.

It was noted that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
