Beachgoers will have an extra month to explore the food and music offered at the Riis Park Beach Bazaar, according to Director Belvy Klein, who announced on Friday that the event would be extended through Sept. 27.
In its first year, the bazaar features a diverse lineup of musical acts, events like Killer Karaoke Thursdays and a variety of local food options like Fletcher’s Brooklyn BBQ.
According to Klein, National Park Service officials said the bazaar has brought in record numbers in terms of foot traffic and that the beach has not been this heavily attended in 25 years.
Patrons are treated to free, all-ages shows on Saturdays and Sundays, while Fridays are dubbed the Reckouwacky showcase party and are exclusively for local Rockaway musical acts.
Several artists have been added to the lineup including Perfect Pussy, So So Glos, Flat Duo Jets, Antarctigo Vespucci, eskimeaux, The Forms, Charly Bliss, Cold Fronts, Simon and the Bar Sinisters, The Supertones, The Shipwrecks, Sharkmuffin and more.
Riis Park Beach Bazaar is also open on Mondays through Wednesdays from noon until 8 p.m., and people interested in pass bundles can choose from Tier 1 and Tier 2 passes. Tier 1 passes include two beers or wines from any beach bar, one meal from any food vendor and a promotional code for 25 percent off shuttle bus service via the Bushwick Beach Bus. Tier 2 passes also include a beach chair rental.
