Police put the kibosh on an apparent illegal drug operation out of a Corona home on Wednesday morning, seizing more than two pounds of heroin along with quantities of other illegal narcotics.

According to law enforcement sources, the court-authorized search occurred at 6:15 a.m. on July 26 at a home on Saultell Avenue near Van Cleef Street. Upon arriving at the home, the officers met two residents: Jose Malave, 43, and Marino Lopez, 45.

During the raid, authorities said, police recovered 1,073 grams of heroin along with 171 grams of cocaine, 24 grams of marijuana and various drug paraphernalia, including a scale and packaging material.

Malave was taken into custody on charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. Lopez, meanwhile, was booked on a weapons possession charge after cops found a gravity knife in his possession; he was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Court records indicated that Malave was ordered at his arraignment held on $100,000 bail and to return to court on Aug. 9. Arraignment information for Lopez was not available.

Inspector Christopher Manson, commanding officer of the 110th Precinct, took to Twitter to praise his officers for the successful raid.
