Dragon Fest, New York City’s largest outdoor Chinese food and cultural festival, is set to make its debut in Forest Hills at the end of the month, offering a wide array of over 100 popular and rare Chinese dishes.
This year’s Dragon Fest season, which started in April and runs through October, is the biggest yet, with pop-up events almost every weekend across the city.
Out of 21 scheduled pop-up days, primarily in Manhattan, Queens will host the festival for the first time on Saturday, Aug. 31.
On that day, vendors will line Queens Boulevard between Yellowstone Boulevard and 72nd Road, offering a diverse menu that includes soup dumplings, lotus root sandwiches, fried skewers, noodles and iron plate tofu. Beverages such as milk tea and Chi Forest seltzers will also be available.
In addition to the culinary offerings, the festival will feature traditional artisans showcasing China’s rich cultural heritage through artistic craftsmanship and culinary traditions.
“We are thrilled to bring Dragon Fest back with an even more ambitious lineup. Our goal is to make Chinese culture and cuisine more accessible to everyone in New York City, and this year’s expanded schedule allows us to do just that,” said Biubiu Xu, Founder of Dragon Fest.
In 2023, the festival drew over 200,000 attendees across just five events, with one vendor reportedly earning a record $14,000 in a single day.
The festival organizers aim to expand their celebration of Chinese food and culture nationwide and encourage vendors of all experience levels to apply year-round.
