Police are searching for Shanel Nadal, 28, of Manhattan, who abducted her eight biological children during an authorized visit at Forestdale Child Agency in Forest Hills on Monday, September 19.

The children – seven boys all named Nephra Payne after their father and an 11-month-old girl name Nefertiti – were reportedly taken away from their parents for domestic abuse. Investigators believe that the children’s father was also involved with the abduction and suspect the family is traveling in a black 1996 Chevrolet Suburban with New York license plate number EXZ5896.

A spokesperson at Forestdale declined to comment how Nadal was able to sneak eight children out of the facility, but said they are working closely with the city’s Administration for Children’s Services (ACS).

ACS released a statement Tuesday, September 20.

“ACS and our foster care agency began working with the NYPD immediately after the mother absconded with the children from a visit at the foster care agency yesterday. Earlier today, we sought and received active warrants from the Manhattan Family Court for the arrest of both parents and for them to produce the children to the court. We ask for the public’s assistance in locating the children, and appreciate any assistance that they can provide the NYPD.”

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
