If you enjoyed the LEGO Movie and want to learn how to create your own stop-animation LEGO films, you can attend animator David Pagano’s book signing in Astoria on Dec. 3.

Pagano, a LEGO animator based in Astoria, will give an interactive presentation for his new book, “The LEGO Animation Book,” that was published on Oct. 29. The event will take place at The Astoria Bookshop, located at 31-29 31st St. at 3 p.m.

Pagano will be joined by co-author David Pickett and they’ll both share tricks and tips they have picked up from the more than 20 years of experience in animation. Pagano is also the owner of Paganomation, a production studio that has had work appear in Nickelodeon, ABC News, Lego.com and The Wall Street Journal.

Pagano and Pickett will share the basics of animation and a step-by-step guide in the creative process behind making your own stop-motion animation. The 216-page book offers beginners easy instructions and tips like how to create special effects, what kind of equipment to use, how to edit your video and conveying action and emotion with your mini-figure actors.

Though it is not required to purchase a book to attend the event, which costs $19.95, it is encouraged.

To purchase the book, visit The Astoria Bookshop’s website.
