After nearly five years of waiting, justice was swiftly served on Thursday to a Bronx man who stabbed an 69-year-old man to death in Elmhurst back in 2013.

Jurors convicted Steven Torres, 27, of second-degree murder for the Sept. 16, 2013 killing of Ever Orozco near the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue 7 train station. Torres faces up to 25 years to life behind bars when he is sentenced on June 8, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

“The victim in this case was killed in a violent, unprovoked attack,” Brown said on May 24. “[Torres] fatally stabbed an innocent bystander in a senseless act of rage. The jury weighed all the evidence presented at trial, and after deliberating for just 11 minutes, found [him] guilty of murder.”

Prosecutors said Orozco, a Woodside resident, parked his vehicle near the 90th Street-Elmhurst Avenue stop at 1 p.m. on Sept. 16, 2013; moments earlier, he had dropped his wife off at a nearby doctor’s office.

Moments later, law enforcement sources said, Torres approached Orozco and stabbed him seven times about the body. According to initial reports, Torres allegedly made anti-gay statements to Orozco before the attack.

Orozco’s wife and 115th Precinct officers found him mortally wounded. Paramedics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Torres was apprehended a short time later and charged with the crime.
