Detectives have arrested a Rego Park man accused of allegedly stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death in Ridgewood earlier this week.

Cops said that Anthony Hobson, 48, of 64th Avenue turned himself in to police on Feb. 8 at the 104th Precinct’s Ridgewood stationhouse. Following question, he was charged in the Feb. 3 murder of Jennifer Irigoyen, 35, in the lobby of an apartment building on Myrtle Avenue between Decatur Street and Fresh Pond Road.

Sources familiar with the investigation told QNS that Hobson got into a dispute with Irigoyen in the lobby of the Myrtle Avenue location just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 3. Irigoyen, whose residential address is Saunders Street in Rego Park, was said to be living in the Ridgewood apartment house at the time.

The dispute turned violent, police said, when Hobson allegedly stabbed Irigoyen, who was 14 weeks pregnant, in the neck and torso, then fled the scene.

According to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown, security camera footage from the scene showed Hobson allegedly dragging Irigoyen from a third-floor hallway into the stairwell before stabbing her.

Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to a 911 call about the stabbing. Paramedics rushed Irigoyen to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Doctors also could not save her unborn baby.

Hobson was ordered held without bail following his Feb. 8 arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on charges of murder, tampering with physical evidence, and criminal possession of a weapon. He faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted, Brown said.

“This was a heinous crime. A woman was brutally stabbed — killing her and the unborn child,” Brown said on Feb. 8. “[Hobson] is alleged to have shown no mercy and no regard for human life when he repeatedly and purposely plunged a knife into this expectant mother’s abdomen, torso and neck. The defendant, now in custody, faces spending the rest of his days locked behind bars.”
