Welcome to the Point. The Point being College Point. I am quite sure that I saw the Easter Bunny wearing a jacket to keep warm and he was wearing gloves carrying his basket full of colored Easter eggs.
The Queens Half Marathon took place starting at MacNeil Park with 3,177 runners. This year it was at 8 a.m. and on Saturday. Here are the results:
Skaggs-Walsh 5K: Overall male winner Guillermo Pineda, 27 (15:32) and overall female winner Stacy Creamer, 41, (18:36).
Age group 12-14: Jonathan Nunez, 14, (19:46).
Age group 20-29: Konstantino Tsidavis, 22, (19:52).
Age group 30-39: Eric Friedman, 34, (18:10).
Age group 40-44: Peter Williams, 40 (17:57).
Age group 12-14: Jaclyn Scagnelli, l3 (24:43); Hannah Chun, l2, (34:35); Jennifer Baunach, 12 (34:37).
Age group 45-49: Jeannie White, 45 (26:56); Miriam Teran, 46 (32:55).
Queens Half Marathon age group 30-39: Yorki Munoz, 30 (1:13:21).
Age group 50-54: Julio Aguirre, 53 (1:23:58).
Scholarship Winners 5K: Kristian Berardi, 12, and Jaclyn Scagnelli, 13, will each be awarded $250 scholarships for coming in first as full-time male and female students who reside in College Point or Malba who finished the 5K Run.
Paul Von Dohlen travelled 2,000 miles from Tennessee for this race.
College Point Roadrunners Track Club will be having a 5K Summer Series at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The schedule is as follows: Race 1 Friday, June 9; Race 2 Friday, June 23; Race 3 Friday, July 14; Race 4 Friday, July 21. All races begin at 7 p.m. Start/Finish near the Unisphere at Theatre in the Park. Entry fee is $5 per race. (Day of race, cash only).
