A new GM dealership in Bayside will not be able to add an extra parking lot to store cars, Community Board 11 decided by a narrow vote Monday night.
After much debate during the public hearing at Middle School 158, the board voted 19-17 to deny a pair of variances that the dealership at 214-25 Northern Blvd. had requested.
The new dealership is directly opposite the 111th Police Precinct in Bayside and features a large building on a blocklong plot of land dominated by a parking lot. A lawyer for GM said Monday night that an additional, smaller piece of property facing 215th Street was included in the original deal for the land.
