Speaking before an attentive group of senior citizens at a center in Flushing Monday, U.S. Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-Jackson Heights) said the House of Representatives passed a bill last week that would vitiate a 14-year-old Food and Drug Administration law prohibiting the transportation of prescription drugs from Mexico and Canada to the United States.
If passed by the Senate and signed into law by the president, Crowley said the bill could potentially bridge the oft-cited pharmaceutical price gulf between the United States, Canada and Mexico, which has driven many in the states to cross the borders to fill prescriptions.
The bill passed the House by a lopsided vote of 363-to-12.
