The Fire Department said the three-month investigation was centered on neighborhoods in Brooklyn as well as Queens, in particular, Elmhurst. No serious injuries or deaths resulted from the reported incidents, the department said.
In the Elmhurst incident, which was caught on tape, a crew eating at a Burger King on Albion Avenue and Queens Boulevard was said to have told the dispatcher that they were en route when instead they stayed at the Burger King, the Fire Department said.
The patients was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and was released after three days, the department said.
The two employees to be fired were caught on tape sleeping in Brooklyn, the Fire Department said.
Two men wanted for store robbery
QUEENS VILLAGE – Two men allegedly stole $500 from a commercial store at 220-06 Hempstead Turnpike at 8:30 p.m., Friday after brandishing a handgun and forcing two victims into the store's bathroom, said Sgt. Elias Nikas, a police spokesman. Police were looking for two male blacks in their 20s who fled on foot. There have been no arrests and an investigation is pending.
Queens Village man arrested in burglary
QUEENS VILLAGE — A man was arrested Tuesday morning in connection with six burglaries allegedly committed from Oct. 28, 1998 to Oct. 13, 2000, police said. Detectives from the 105th Precinct arrested Phillip Johnson, 19, at his home at 109-31 215 St., at 10 a.m. He was charged with burglary, police said.
Springfield Gardens man arrested during sting
SPRINGFIELD GARDENS – A man was arrested Monday night after allegedly pointing his gun at two undercover cops during a buy-and-bust operation at Lovingham Lane and Foch Boulevard, said Detective Lisa Guerriero, a police spokeswoman.
A 28-year-old man who lives on Baisley Boulevard was arrested at the scene. Charges are pending, Guerriero said.
Pair of men charged in Springfield Gardens robbery
SPRINGFIELD GARDENS – Two men were arrested after allegedly robbing a Pathmark at 134-40 Merrick Blvd. early Monday morning, police said.
Police Officer Joseph Cavitolo said Ronald Hayes, 33, of 509 Chauncey St. in Brooklyn, and Michael Sanders, 29, of 150-67 116th Drive in Jamaica, were both charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon after allegedly brandishing a handgun and taking an undetermined amount of cash from the store.
Cops to S. Jamaica residents: Don't warm up cars unattended
SOUTH JAMAICA – Deputy Inspector William Morris, commander of the 113th Police Precinct, warned South Jamaica, Springfield Gardens and Rochdale Village residents not to leave their vehicles unattended while letting them warm up.
“We've lost about two to three vehicles because of this,” Morris said.
He said despite the inconvenience, motorists need to sit inside their car while the engine is warming up or the windows are de-icing.
“You cannot leave your vehicle unattended,” Morris said.
LIC store robbed
LONG ISLAND CITY — Police were looking for two men who robbed a convenience store at 43-02 Ditmars Blvd., of cash and cigarettes about 3:20 a.m., Monday, said Police Department spokesman Joseph Cavitolo. There have been no arrests and an investigation is pending.
Men steal cash, cell phone from cab driver on Starr Ave.
BLISSVILLE – Two men stole $80 and a cell phone from a livery cab driver in Blissville Sunday, police said.
Sgt. Elias Nikas said the driver picked up two men in Blissville at 35th Street and Starr Avenue at about 6:15 p.m. Monday. The men then instructed the driver to go to Brooklyn.
The men threatened the driver with a hard object before fleeing with $80 and a cell phone, Nikas said.
The cab had a safety camera, Nikas said, and 25 pictures were taken.
Police were investigating.
Man dies after falling under moving forklift
JAMAICA – A 65-year-old man was killed Sunday night when he slipped and fell under a moving forklift at Kennedy Airport.
Police Officer Joseph Cavitolo said the man, whose name had not been released, died at 11:15 p.m. An investigation is pending.
20-yr-old man arrested in Woodside stabbing
WOODSIDE – A man was arrested after allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old in a dispute at 63rd Street and Roosevelt Avenue at 3:45 am Tuesday, said Officer Guy Braun, a police spokesman.
Julian Korieo, 20, of 216 East 100th St. was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Police were looking for another suspect who fled on foot.
The victim, whose name was not released was stabbed once in the stomach and was in critical condition at Elmhurst hospital. An investigation is pending.
