But Douglaston native Jennifer Macaluso is using her off time to do what she loves best – perform.
Several producers on both coasts are looking over tapes of her one-woman show, “Making the Best of It,” which she presented last summer at the small Trinity Theater, literally off Broadway.
In the meantime, the 27-year-old has reprised her earlier one-woman production, “Dysfunctional Love Stories” – an autobiographical (like the last show) comedy-musical depicting singles' dating trials and tribulations in Manhattan.
“It's been updated and revised – I had two more years of material,” Macaluso said, so it will be almost like a new show.
In “Best of It,” Macaluso portrayed several different women complaining about PMS or extolling the virtues of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. But in “Love Stories,” she remains one woman, relating different stories leading up to each song parodying a popular tune.
The show opens at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, with Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evening performances in January, February, and March at the Skylight Room in Danny's Grand Sea Palace at 346 West 46th St. between 8th and 9th avenues along Manhattan's “Restaurant Row.” Tickets are $15 cover with a $10 food or drink minimum.
