Straphangers riding N and R trains will find their routines changed during overnight periods on weekends between now and March 5 as part of the Transit Authority’s preparation for changes in routing of subway lines using the new 63rd Street tunnel.
The changes will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday on each weekend.
The TA said that no N trains will run between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square/42nd Street, and R trains will take a detour through the 63rd Street tunnel during this period.
N trains, running in two sections, will go from Ditmars Boulevard to Queensboro Plaza, and from Times Square/42nd Street to Stillwell Avenue in Brooklyn.
Riders will be able to transfer from the N to the No. 7 at Queensboro Plaza and Times Square/42nd Street.
R trains will stop at 21st Street/Queensbridge Roosevelt Island and 63rd Street/Lexington Avenue stations.
No R service will be available at Queens Plaza.
Normal R train service will connect 71st Street/Continental Avenue and 36th Street and 57th Street/7th Avenue and 95th Street in Brooklyn.
During this period, the Fifth Avenue/60th Street and Lexington Avenue/60th Street stations will be shut down.
