A Whitestone woman who claimed a highway patrol officer made a sexual advance toward her when he pulled her over last spring on Francis Lewis Boulevard was issued a summons last week for filing a false complaint, police said.
Detective Carolyn Chew, a spokeswoman for the Police Department, confirmed that the patrolman’s dashboard audio and video recorder revealed that the woman’s allegations were unfounded.
Mary de Bourbon, a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said Nancy Caride, of 18-01 154th St. in Whitestone, was issued a summons Feb. 14 charging her with a Class B misdemeanor.
“We are alleging that when she filed the complaint, saying that the officer acted inappropriately, she way lying,” de Bourbon said.
The charge could carry a penalty of up to 90 days in jail, or a $500 fine, or both, or Caride could just get probation, de Bourbon said.
According to published reports, Caride, 41, told the Internal Affairs Bureau that Officer Albert Belcher told her she was attractive and asked her if she was married when he pulled her over.
But the tape of the incident shows Caride begging Belcher not to give her a ticket, telling him she works for the Corrections Department. Belcher is seen checking her license, filling out the paperwork, and telling her to drive safely.
