Jamaica Man Sentenced In Bayside H.S. Rape

The two other defendants, Parrish Jones and John Mendoza, will stand trial later this year.
Sean Clancey of Jackson Heights, a senior at Bayside High School, said that 15 years is not enough for the crime that he committed. "A crime is a crime, no matter how major or minor," said Clancey. "He must pay the consequences."
"He ruined the safety of the others around him," said Meghan Fink, a 14-year-old student at Bayside.
When contacted by The Queens Courier, Bayside High School Principal Harris Sarney said that he would not comment on the situation.
Leon, of 89-43 212th Place, Jamaica, admitted to luring a 16-year-old girl to a basement bathroom of the school, sodomizing and sexually abusing her. He pleaded guilty to all of the charges in a 13 count indictment before Supreme Court Justice Joseph Grosso last January
According to Brown, the victim stayed after school to do some work when she was intentionally lured into a basement boys bathroom. When the girl denied Elkech sexual favors, he and Jones, 19, of 105-16 34th Avenue, East Elmhurst beat her and choked her with a belt, while Mendoza, 19, of 43-55 Kissena Blvd., Flushing, stood guard at the door.
The girl was found by a fellow student and a janitor sobbing and curled in a fetal position on the bathroom floor. She was found partially clothed with her hands tied behind her back with her own shoelaces.
According to police, her moans were drowned out by the noise of a swim meet that was taking place close to where the girl was assaulted.
"He ruined someones life," 16-year-old Bayside student Roy Al Nonesuch said. "He should get the electric chair."
