RICHMOND HILL — A 25-year-old man who claimed last month that his left pinkie was cut off by robbers, admitted last Thursday he cut his own finger to win the affection of a woman, police said.

Swinder Singh, of 89-34 129th St. in Richmond Hill, filed a report March 24 alleging that two men approached him on the corner of 89th Avenue and 129th Street when he was on his way home, said Jerry Varson, a police spokesman

Singh said the men robbed him of $1,500, and while he was trying to defend himself, one of the robbers cut his left pinkie with a knife, Varson said.

Singh was treated at Jamaica Hospital where doctors unsuccessfully tried to re-attach his finger, Varson said.

Last Thursday, Singh admitted he made up the entire robbery story in order to get the attention of a woman he knew, Varson said.

Singh was charged with filing a false report.

2 AirTrain workers caught in steel mesh

JAMAICA — Two AirTrain workers were injured Friday when they got caught in steel mesh, police said.

The workers, 53 and 60, were working on the monorail system across the street from 143-08 94th Ave. in Jamaica at about 9:30 a.m. when they became trapped, said Jerry Varson, a police spokesman.

The men were extricated from the mesh and taken to Jamaica Hospital where they were listed in stable condition, Varson said.

Two gunmen rob Jamaica McDonald’s

JAMAICA — Two armed men wearing ski masks robbed a McDonald’s restaurant at 72-69 Kissena Blvd. at about 11:35 p.m. last Thursday, police said.

The men entered the eatery, announced a robbery and took about $4,000 from the manager’s office, said Detective Eugene Canapi, a police spokesman.

Police were investigating.

36-year-old man stabbed on Springfield Boulevard

Springfield Gardens — A 36-year-old man was stabbed in front of 136-31 Springfield Blvd. Friday night, police said.

The man was stabbed once in the lower left back by an assailant with whom he had an ongoing dispute, police spokesman Sergeant Brian Burke said.

The victim was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition.

Man, 26, shot on 171st Street

Jamaica Estates — A 26-year-old man was shot once by an unidentified person while walking near 88-05 171st St. Friday night, police spokesman Sergeant Brian Burke said.

The victim was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital in stable condition, Burke said. The attacker fled the scene.

Police were investigating.

Teen shot in neck on Beach 54th St.

Arverne — A 19-year-old man was shot once in the neck by an unidentified assailant in front of 410 Beach 54th St. shortly after midnight Monday, police said.

The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital, police spokesman Officer Louis Cruz said.

The motive was unknown and no arrests were made, he said.

Police were investigating.

Rockaways man dies after being shot twice

HAMMELS — A man who was shot twice at 85-02 Rockaway Beach Blvd. on Sunday night, died early Monday morning, police said.

Damon Waiters, of 84-16 Rockaway Beach Blvd., was taken by a companion to Peninsula General Hospital after being shot once in the head and once in the chest, police spokesman Officer Louis Cruz said.

Two men rob deli on Grove Street

RIDGEWOOD — Two men entered the Grandview Deli & Grocery at 20-42 Grove St. Saturday morning and fled with an unknown amount of cash from the register, police spokeswoman Valerie St. Rose said.

No one was injured in the 7 a.m. robbery, she said.

Gunman robs bank on 41st Avenue

Long Island City — A gunman robbed a bank on 29-37 41st Ave. at about 10 a.m. Monday, police said.

The perpetrator entered the building, displayed a gun and demanded cash, fleeing with an unknown amount of money, police spokeswoman Detective Valerie St. Rose said. There were no injuries.

Police were investigating.

Boy, 13, jumps in front of Grand Ave. train: Cops

ELMHURST – A 13-year-old boy reportedly committed suicide at the Grand Avenue station at about 8:22 p.m., police said.

The boy, Jesus Rodrigo Garcia of 55-51 Podwise Ave., jumped in front of an ongoing southbound R train, said Detective Eugene Canapi, a police spokesman.

Two men rob cab driver at light on Jamaica Ave.

WOODHAVEN — A 22-year-old livery cab driver was robbed at a traffic light at the intersection of 93rd Street and Jamaica Avenue early Tuesday morning, police said.

Two unidentified men entered the cab as it was stopped at a traffic light, placed a metal object to the driver’s head, and robbed him of a radio, jewelry, and an undetermined amount of money, police spokesman Officer Louis Cruz said. They fled the scene on foot.

The driver for Howard Beach Taxi was uninjured.

Police were investigating.

Man accused of LIC rape tracked through cell phone

LONG ISLAND CITY — A 29-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning shortly after he allegedly robbed and raped a 30-year old woman.

Police charged Samuel Cusperte of 15-23 Fulton Ave., with robbing the victim as she was walking home at about 12:30 a.m., then following her into her building and raping her in the vestibule, police spokeswoman Carmen Melendez said.

Cusperte was tracked by police after he used a cell phone he allegedly stole from the victim, Melendez said.

Cusperte was arrested at 33rd Avenue and 14th Street.

Rite Aid cigarette packs taken in Ridgewood burglary

RIDGEWOOD – A burglar or burglars broke into a Rite Aid pharmacy at 55-60 Myrtle Ave. at about 5:20 a.m. last Thursday, police said. The front-gate locks were clipped locks, and 30 packs of cigarettes were stolen, said Detective Eugene Canapi, a police spokesman.
