David Weprin Rockies Extend Winning Streak to nine
The David Weprin Rockies continued their winning ways extending their record to 9-0 with a 26-9 over New Hyde Park 3, May 30 and 17-5 over New Hyde Park 2, June 3. Jillian Meyer scored and knocked in 4 runs. Michelle Asciote and Alexis Namit each scored 3 and drove in another 4 runs. Lizzie DiGangi was a perfect 3-for-3 scoring 4 times.
Tara McCullaghn and Jessica Gauthier each had 3 hits. Big hits included Lorey Giblin’s triple and Namit’s double. Catcher and cleanup hitter Marisa Bearak drove home the first David Rockies run and hard 3 RBIs. Theresa Pullo scored three runs and drove in two. Jennifer Francis and Divya Akula each scored a pair of runs. The game featured strong pitching by Gauthier and Nicole Epstein who also started at shortstop. Asciote receive the game ball.
After the disappointment of rain washing out a 10-1 lead under the lights in the bottom of the second inning at Mineola, Friday, June 1, the David Weprin Rockies came out a little flat before exploding for 15 runs to run-rule New Hyde Park 2 in five innings.
Strong pitching by Gauthier and Nicole Epstein came the David Weprin Rockies close while their bats warmed up. Lorey Giblic led the way scoring three runs and batting in four.
Lauren Glowatz was a perfect 3-for-3 and drove in 3 runs. Jennifer Francis made a key outfield catch and threw to first to complete a double play in the bottom half of the third innings. Gautheir struck out five and walked none over three innings, Epstein struck out five in two inning. Alexis Namit scored her team leading 19th and 20th runs. Cleanup hitter Marisa Bearak recorded her 22nd RBI. Giblin received the game ball.
