There have been many beautiful celebrations in College Point.
It all started with Eva Maria Hrastnig and William Mieras getting married on Aug. 3, 1974 at the Community Church of Great Neck by the Rev. Albert Perry.
Recently, we attended their daughter’s wedding at the First Reformed Church in College Point, Tanya Celeste to James Kirk Williams, Pastor Carl Rosenblum officiating. The Maid of Honor, Stephanie Ogarek, Best Man Jason Gilbert, Bridesmaids Erica Bollinger and Britney Bollinger. The reception was at the Caffe on the Green in Bayside and it included delightful music and violin solos. Two weeks after the wedding, Eva and Bill had a reception in the church chapel and the pictures were shown along with brunch. Good times were had by all!
The Whitestone Times had a beautiful 10th Anniversary at Caffe On The Green under sunny skies at the outside patio. Of course publisher Steve Blank and his wife Holly were the hosts. Many elected officials were there, including Senator Padavan, D.A. Richard Brown, Borough President Claire Shulman and many candidates. Joe Franco, owner of this magnificent restaurant was present to oversee the party. The staff of the TimesLedger was present and of course enjoyed it greatly. I can’t get enough of this restaurant and I am looking forward to the next event. Steve, on to the next decade and another celebration!
There was a grand opening of Dr. Deirdre Ryan’s College Point Animal Hospital and what a fantastic place it is. I am sure that the animals will have no fear, only love when they arrive. Dr. Ryan has been a vet for eight years. She will continue to make house calls, as she has for over four years — this is so helpful for seniors who have pets. The facility is a full service hospital with dental, surgery, x-rays and a laboratory, two licensed technicians, Kim and Casey in addition to the vet.. Scout, 4 years old, is the official mascot and just loves everybody.

Dolly and Tim O’Connell were thrilled with their family coming in from Ireland to visit them — Kathleen, Michael, and their children Kelly, Michael, Kevin.
Amanda D'Orazi graduated from St. Agnes and is in Queens College with honors.
Be A Clown Workshop — “Clowning around with the Seasons.” Laine Barton, who has performed with the Big Apple Circus will teach the children how to do juggling, mime and how to make the audience laugh, all the while having fun themselves. Leo Nicholas has already arranged and done three MacNeil Park cleanups. Participating were my husband Rocco and me, Diane Haieck, Richard Moore, Steve Rothwell, Roc Brendon, Milse Nap, Cathy Mulvey and Andrew Mulvey. Another clean up is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, July 27, in back of the park house. If you can make it, be there so we can beautify the park.
