The Queens Botanical Garden features a variety of different presentations this summer.
Plants now blooming include agastache, buddleia, boltonia, clethra and vitex. In September, the Japanese anemone, autumn clematis, asters and tricytris are expected.
A series of workshops is offered for children ages 3 to 12 with instructor Marie Comiskey. Early registration is required prior to each program. For more information and a list of these events, call 718-886-3800.
The Children’s Garden is open to youngsters 5 to 14, with outdoor adventures led by Marie Comiskey, which will allow kids to plant, maintain, and harvest flowers, vegetables, and herbs; design butterfly, rock, and herb gardens; collect insects; identify flowers; participate in workshops and craft activities and go on field trips. A variety of talks are held on topics of interest to all gardeners. Programs begin promptly and most are free. This series is made possible in part by the Voelker-Orth Museum, Bird Sanctuary and Victorian Garden. For more information and a list of these events, call 718-886-3800.
