The Walk for Mental Health, a fund-raiser to benefit Transitional Services for New York Inc., will take place Sunday at Flushing-Meadow Corona Park.
The event is open to everyone and is part of a spring fund-raising campaign that includes a luncheon sponsored by Walk Chairman and New York Mets Manager Bobby Valentine and a raffle.
The walk route begins and ends at the Unisphere and winds through the park. Check-in is from 7:30 a.m. to noon with an opening ceremony slated for 10 a.m. Other attractions will include face painting, music, clowns, food and giveaways.
A free commemorative T-shirt will be awarded to anyone raising $60 or more in pledges.
TSI is a 26-year-old social service provider helping some 2,500 inpatient and outpatient clients at 11 facilities in Queens.
As a prelude to Sunday’s event, Bobby Valentine’s “Luncheon for Mental Health” is slated Thursday, April 21, at his Bobby V’s Restaurant, 37-10 114th St., Corona, noon to 2 p.m. Reservations are required. Call TSI at 746-6647, Ext. 24.
In addition to Bobby V’s, sponsors include the TimesLedger, NYC Parks and Recreation, North Fork Bank, Keyspan, Webline Designs and Poland Springs.
The Walk will take place rain or shine.
