DG Major Division
Pizza Chef extended its winning streak with a 7-1 victory over Dr. Shapiro, Allergist. Every player in the Pizza Chef line-up contributed to the win. Tommy Schreiber led off the second inning with a walk, followed by a single by Anthony Gismundi. Andrew Kovach then cleared the bases with a double. A walk to Sean Fitzgerald, followed by a single by Mike Vlachos led to another run, while Nick DeFalco drove in both Adam and Eric Breidbart with a double. Tommy Schreiber pitched three shutout innings, while Jeremy Franco had six strikeouts in his three innings to propel their team to the win.
Good pitching by Joey Depperman and Michael Lowery led Inter-County Auto to a 12-1 win over Eurotech Auto. Key base hits by Mike Kern and Chris Fransechini got Inter-County off to a fast start. John Sambucci contributed with a nice base hit and plenty of hustle on the bases, while Brian Gabriel made a strong contribution in his team’s winning effort.
DG Minor Division
Re/Max Universal jumped out to a fast start, then held off Western Beef, 16-9. Four runs in the first inning behind RBIs off the bats of Manuel Barcena, Ediz Serman and Dennis Brennan gave Re/Max the early advantage. Western Beef came back in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own, with RBIs coming from Tommy Regan and Jeffery Johnson. Re/Max continued the scoring with eight more in the second, the big blow a grand slam by Patrick Berndt. The teams traded runs into the fourth, but Re/Max was able to hold on, as Kenny Lehr came on to pitch the last inning and wrap up the win.
DG Girls Softball
Edward McKee Post # 131 beat Ridgewood Savings Bank, 16-4. The score was tied 2-2 after the first, then the McKee girls came alive. Sarah Smith, Ariana Barongi, Michelle Dutton, Maria Rizo, Christina Tulino and Tiffany Lawrence all helped with their share of base hits for McKee. Christina Agnello went 4-for-4, including a home run and a triple and scored four times. Nicole Agnello also went 4-for-4, with a home run and a double. Corinne Lippert was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. For Ridgewood, Michele McKeown opened up the game with a double. Christine McGrory contributed two hits and shared the pitching with Maria Passaris, who was walked three times. Cynthia had two hits and an RBI.
