Major Division
Mardene Construction 12, Party City 7 (7 innings). In a wild finish Saturday morning, Mardene Construction came back from a 7-1 deficit with two outs in the sixth inning to force extra innings, then rallied in the seventh to secure a 12-7 win over Party City. John Apostolo (2-for-4) kept the rally alive with two outs on a bloop hit to right field to cut the lead to 7-5. Then, Vinny Iannece’s clutch RBI-single closed the gap at 7-6. Iannece would later score when Sean Donnelly (3-for-4) lined a single through the infield and the comeback was complete with the score tied at 7-7. Joey Marden, who closed the door with four shutout innings, kept Party City’s bats in check, while the Mardene offense exploded for five runs in the seventh for a comfortable 12-7 advantage. Party City was led offensively by Chris Riley (2-for-3) and Brian Conway (2-for-4), who also pitched four strong innings in defeat.
Texas Farm Division
As the Texas Farm Season draws to a close, our Little Leaguers were swinging the bats on Father’s Day. This week’s power hitters were Thatos Paris and John Diamandis for Bagels & Bake, Alex O. and John Romano for ASK Construction, Alexandra J. Silver and Frank Lomuscio of B.L. Management, with Evan Rodriguez, and Ariana E. Melis of Mardene Construction adding to their slugging percentages as well. Golden gloves go to Robert G, Haenleim and Terrence Grogan of America’s Choice Mortgage, with Nicholas Matusewicz and Johnny Marchisello gloving for Eye Supply. Andrew Vecchio and Jack of A & A Plumbing were key contribute for their team, with Alex Delgaudio and Thomas O’Brien doing the same for Hattons Funeral Home.
Texas Division
Papazzio’s Restaurant 6, Mittman’s Medics 5. Papazzio’s 6-5 victory over Mittmans Medics showed just how evenly matched the two teams are, with the season series ending at one win, one loss and a tie. Mittman’s was led by very strong pitching from Jake Sternick, Nick Rodriguez and Dom Formato. All-around good play was provided by Jamie Skala, Jon Chen, Andy Quinn, Willie Hernandez and Patrick Butler.
Papazzio’s Restaurant 6, Mittman’s Medics 4. Papazzio's Restaurant defeated Mittman’s Medics 6-4 in a well-played and exciting game. Papazzio’s rallied for five runs in the second inning, led by the hitting of Timothy Hom with two hits an RBI and a run scored. Thomas DeCicco had one hit and a run scored. Nicholas cleared the bases with a timely two-run triple. Brian Wren pitched three strong innings and added a two run double. Stephen McNamara pitched the last three innings and allowed only one run.
Outback Steakhouse 12, Mittman’s Medics 10. Outback Steakhouse beat Mittman's Medics, 12-10, in a very close game. The Medics were led by home runs from Nick Rodriguez and Dom Formato, Lauren Kelly’s three RBIs and Jamie Skala’s three hits. Slick fielding was key with great play turned in by Jon Chen, Andy Quinn and Jake Sternick.
R. Klein, CPA 5, Monahan & Fitzgerald’s 3. In a well-played game on both sides, R. Klein, CPA came out on top 5-3 over Monahan & Fitzgerald’s. Robert Goger and Steven Arroyo combined to pitch six innings and Robert Klein led the offense with a triple and two RBIs. Alex Fable also played a brilliant defensive game at shortstop. Monahan & Fitzgerald’s was led by Kevin Durkan, who pitched three scoreless innings, and Matthew Correale, who was on base two out of three times with a base hit and an RBI.
Biordi Construction 8, Jackson Hole 6. Frankie Biordi led the charge, going 3-for-3 (two RBIs) and threw three strong innings on the mound in an 8-6 victory over Jackson Hole. John Varsam also hit safely and scored a run along with third baseman Sam Rowen, who had a hit run scored in the victory. Other Biordi stars included Anthony Scianna (double, three RBIs), Tommy Karcinski (2-for-3, three RBIs), Nicky Burns (1-for-2) and Nicky Maccia (1-for-1, RBI) all chipped in for the win. Jackson Hole was led by Andrew Goldstein (2-for-3), who scored three runs and the solid pitching of Ryan Paccione, who starred in the loss.
