Holy Family 8, Queen of Peace 7.
In an exciting and well-played game, Holy Family defeated Queen of Peace in CYO softball by the score of 8-7. Julianne Keyes pitched a complete game, including six strikeouts and a perfect 1-2-3 seventh inning. Holy Family scored five runs in the top of the third to take the lead, led by Anniela Vaccaro’s RBI double and Jackie Chang’s two run home run. Anniela homered in the fifth inning and Jackie also homered in the sixth inning to score the final and winning run. Jeanna Dalvano went 3-for-3, including an RBI-double. Stephanie Restrepo continued her fine play in the field at shortshop with a couple of great plays.
Holy Family 11, St. Joseph 6.
Holy Family won its second game in a row with a come-from-behind 11- 6 victory over St. Joseph. Down 3 to 0, Holy Family scored four runs in the top of the fourth, led by the three run home run off the bat of Jackie Chang, which was followed by a solo home run by Anniela Vaccaro. After St. Joseph’s scored three runs in the bottom of hte third, Holy Family again exploded for five runs in the fourth, led by key walks to Angela Nolan and Yesenia Abreu and RBI singles by Jackie Change and Anniela Vaccaro. Stephanie Restrepo had a single and three runs scored. Katherine Dougherty and Julianne Keyes combined their efforts on the mound, as the Holy Family pitchers recorded 11 strikeouts and allowed no hits over the last four innnings. The key for Holy Family was the solid defensive effort put in by the whole team. With this win Holy Family improved its record to 5-3.
