With the last three regular season games to be played in four days, the depth of the St. Luke’s pitching staff was going to be tested. They passed the test, as Carlo Cataldo, Mike Dinoto, Dean Glykas, John Massa, Anthony Polite and Mike Socci all pitched great helping St. Luke’s to win its final three games to finish the season with a 14-0 record.
It’s the second year in a row that this group, coached by Paul Cataldo, has gone undefeated. To go along with great pitching, coach Cataldo has five boys — Carlo Cataldo, Mike DiNoto, Dean Glykas, John Montoya and Mike Socci — with batting averages over .600. Solid play from Nick Hristis, John Matia, John McDounagh, Lambros Vandros and Peter Vaslakos also contributed to the team’s success.
St. Luke’s faces Our Lady of Hope in the first round of playoffs this week.
