The Long Island City football team is off to its best start in program history, as the Bulldogs improved to 4-0, 3-0 in the PSAL with a 30-12 win over Erasmus Saturday.
Ronald Whittingham led LIC with three touchdowns, including a 90-yard punt return. He also ran for 107 yards on 16 carries. Mark Satterwhite added another touchdown while running for 149 yards on 18 carries.
The Bulldogs, whose best record to date is 6-2 in their inaugural varsity season three years ago, hosts John Adams (2-2, 2-1) Saturday at 11 a.m.
Grand Street Campus 22, John Adams 16. Javon Sistrunk set the tone, returning the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and had 245 all-purpose yards — including a fourth quarter 17-yard touchdown — for Grand Street Campus (4-0). Terrence Lott had a pair of touchdowns for Adams, catching a 30-yard pass from halfback Tristan Leefoon and a 60-yard pass from quarterback Kyle Piccerello.
Campus Magnet 40, Boys & Girls 6. Ian Odom rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown and Courtney Jones scored a pair of touchdowns, an 80-yard kickoff return and a 15-yard scamper, for Campus Magnet (2-1). Justin Mitchell added 11 tackles for Magnet, which plays at rival August Martin Saturday at 1 p.m.
Port Richmond 49, August Martin 0. The Falcons woes continued Saturday at Ralph Jones Memorial Field as Martin — which has been outscored 150-14 this year — dropped to 0-4, 0-3 in the PSAL. Anthony Russo led Port Richmond (2-1) with three touchdown receptions.
