Welcome to the Point. The Point being College Point.
Commander James Reilly and Auxiliary President Rose Cervasio announced that the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Post No. 885 changed its name Sept. 21 to Everett F. Herrel College Point Post No. 885, at 120-19 14th Rd.
Everett Herrel, known as “Sarge” for 56 years, was a longtime member who dedicated his life to the VFW and the community of College Point. He was involved in youth activities, Little League, bowling, Memorial Day committees, parades and the poppy campaign, and most of all, service to his country.
This dedication took place at the post with family and friends, post and auxiliary members present. Everett passed away in February and will be missed.

Sabina says…A strong word of caution. Nine cars were broken into at a recent golf tournament. Do not leave wallets, credit cards or laptop computers in the car when you go out to play.
